Systems — Photorealistic terrain
Google Photorealistic 3D Tiles
Switch the imagery layer to Google Maps 3D to swap the default Earth for Google's photogrammetric mesh — buildings, terrain and vegetation, streamed in 3D Tiles 1.1 format.
Open Imagery in the left sidebar and pick Google Maps 3D. The globe replaces its raster basemap with Google's photogrammetric tileset, so zooming into a city reveals real building geometry, shaded by the same lighting toggle the rest of the workspace uses.
When to use it
Verifying ground truth around an event, confirming a camera's line of sight, scouting an airport ramp, or just establishing scene context before opening Street View.
Performance
Tiles stream lazily by view frustum. Pair with a regional layer filter (cameras, exposed devices) to keep frame times in budget on lower-end GPUs.
